Communication

I was looking for a rock to lean on
someone immune to my erosion
Still I stuck the dynamite in
without preparing for the explosion

I said I wanted to take you for granite
but you never got that joke
You laughed at me instead
and I just let you poke

They used to call me Tumbles
down the hill head over heels
I don't know from graceful
just how good letting go feels

I told you that I always love the fall
And you spoke to me of seasons
I knew what I was feeling
but you were tallying the reasons

You know you're never here
all the times you're not around
but you won't let that stop you
from telling me how it all went down

And when you've had your say
I doubt that you have heard
You tell me about communication
but you didn't catch a word
